  • Now in its 11th year, the Conference on Inclusion and Diversity in Library & Information Science (CIDLIS) is the first and longest-running event that centers equity, diversity, and inclusion in LIS. It will be held on Friday, November 1st, 2019 at the Nyumburu Cultural Center at the University of Maryland, College Park.

This year’s theme— Everyone Counts: Civic Engagement Among Vulnerable Communities—encourages all who are involved or interested in LIS to contemplate the ways in which we can champion civic engagement among marginalized groups. Everyone deserves to be included.

The documentary Change the Subject tells the story of a group of college students and librarians who challenged biased library subject headings – all the way to the halls of Congress. This powerful film shows how an instance of campus activism entered the national spotlight, and how a cataloging term became a flashpoint in the immigration debate on Capitol Hill.
